My competitors have no experience-Obour

Obour confident he has what the others lack
By Forgive Adjoa Forfoe
WITH a few days left to the MUSIGA elections, incumbent MUSIGA president and hiplife artiste, Obour, says he should be retained because he is unique among his competitors.
“If for nothing at all, i have four years experience from running the union which makes me different. My competitors lack this, so they are just making vague promises. That’s why I should be retained”
He further stated that if given the nod for the second term, he would among other things develop the musical talents from the other regions of Ghana. “My second term will see a lot programmes and activities in the regional branches of MUSIGA. In addition to Institutionalising the Asanteman Art Ball and Awards, I promise to institute the Northern Music Development Ball for the three northern regions of Ghana to help further develop indigenous music from the northern corridors of Ghana.
I am already in talks with the regional Chairmen of MUSIGA BA and MUSIGA Volta on the establishment of the Ahafoman Ball  and the  Volta Music Awards and Dinner Dance respectively. The Eastern, Western and Central Regions will not be left out in this regional development agenda as we strive to make our regional branches self sustaining. This will enable sons and daughters of these regions to help fund raise to develop music works in their respective regions. My vision is to see the rich musical culture of these regions thrive.
Also, we will support our unsung members or underground musicians as popularly called. We will design programs to assist upcoming musicians and unsung or trainee category members. The MUSIGA Spotlight Artiste/song will be redesigned to focus more on unsung and underground members.
The award winning artiste says his achievements should make the electorates retain him.“The President  Obour -led administration  has chalked many successes and created many industry firsts in the development of MUSIGA and the music industry as a whole. From making MUSIGA a household name, providing jobs for musicians, development of new  website and other social media platforms(Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp etc) to creating international partnerships and affiliations”.
According  to the Konkontibaa hitmaker, some of his achievements  also include the formalisation  of Ghana music awards arrangement with Charterhouse and Provision of car prize for chosen VGMA winners over last three years and for the first time a formal agreement was signed between  Charterhouse and MUSIGA on the organization of the Ghana Music Awards scheme and Regional Support for Capacity Building where in the 1st term of the leadership of Obour, an amount of GHc 100,000.00 was distributed among the ten regional offices of MUSIGA for capacity building and development projects.
