Their key job is to provide
superior telecommunication services to customers, but on the side, Airtel,
Ghana’s fastest growing network and its employees have actively been involved
in building schools, providing access to clean drinking water, constructed
medical facilities and a host of other community investment activities across
the country. For their next sustainable project, employees of Airtel Ghana are
hitting the runway to raise funds for their next employee volunteering initiative.
Airtel Catwalk for Charity is an
eagerly awaited event where underground buzzing young designers, make-up
artists and Airtel employees will come together for the purpose
of raising funds in support of breast cancer awareness. The event which has a two prong CSR objective is to first raise funds internally through Airtel employees,
family and friends under the company’s internal CSR campaign called Make Your Change (MYC). The funds
raised will be donated to not-for profit organizations working to raise
awareness on breast cancer across the length and breadth of the country.
The other objective of this initiative is to unearth
young entrepreneurial talented designers such Hush, Retro Eye Glasses by Tasha,
Chocolate, Lakopué, Eyecandy, Kulaperry Outlook, Maison Hardmari, M&K
Designs, Sika designs, MI Style, Threadex, Bits & Pieces, Hycia Turaquis
and Event Factory who are supporting the event. These designers have the unique
opportunity to showcase their wear during the event.
Complimenting these designers will be up
and coming make-up artist such as Lamisi, Limaj and internationally known make
up brand, Maybelline Newyork etc.
The evening's highlight – the catwalk – will feature
clothing designs from these designers and an exotic make up by the make-up
artists. Strutting the runway will be “supermodels” from Airtel Ghana who will
be joined on the night by socialites, fashion representatives, selected VIP’s to mingle,
network, unwind and most especially raise funds for this worthy course.
Hannah Agbozo, Legal and Corporate Affairs Director,
Airtel Ghana stated, “we are using this event to raise funds to support breast
cancer awareness in the country and to unearth young entrepreneurs in the fashion
industry who strive to reach their potential. This emphasizes what Airtel Ghana
believes in; to empower people to reach their maximum potential”.
She added, “Our employees, the designers, make-up
artistes, volunteers and models have been incredible – supporting us – all the
way in organising this diverse event. We hope that this initiative will bring
people together in the spirit of raising funds towards amplifying breast cancer
awareness while enjoying quality entertainment. We look forward to welcoming everyone
who believes in this cause to the event on Friday”.
This unique event will be held at the
forecourt of Airtel Ghana’s Office (opposite FC Beauty Clinic, Ridge) on
Friday, October 30, 2015 at 6: 30pm. Tickets are being sold for GHC 15 cash and GHC 10 though Airtel money to
