It will certainly be a heated moment at the National Theatre on Sunday, March 13, when the finals of the maiden edition of the University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) competition comes off.

Contesting choirs are Shout Choir, Hearts of Worship and Stewards of Praise all from the University of Ghana, Legon; Philanthropic Choir, Accra Polytechnic; Kharis Choir, University of Development Studies; Gracious 4, Ashesi University; Ghamsu Choir, University of Education and Wizzy from the Winsconsin University.

Mrs Diana Hopson is one of the judges
The choirs have the task to prove to the patrons and the able judges through their performances that they have what it takes to be crowned the winners.
The judging panel include Ps Helen Yawson, Diana Hopeson, Obed Psych (Preachers Gh fame), Noble Nketsiah, Nii Okai and Jennifer Jessica Dankwa of Sunny FM.

Apart from the choirs who are expected to thrill the audience with their renditions of songs, some gospel artistes such as Preachers and a guest performance from Noble Meltdown will add to the excitement at the 4:00 pm event.
There will also be a surprise international act.

Saturday’s event is being organised by LW Productions, Gospel Town Africa and Viasat 1 TV.
