By Forgive Adjoa Forfoe
Thursday, 19 May 2016 14:09
Gospel artiste, Nazareth, is set to launch his new album titled New Chapter at the Destiny Empowerment Chapel International on Sunday, May 29.
The title of the album is a reflection of his new lifestyle from the old ways and to thank God for saving him from a terrible sickness.
The launch is expected to be graced by some of the “senior” colleagues in the industry including Gifty Osei, Bernice Ansah, Nicholas Omane Acheampong, John Winner, Alpha Jerry and Jay Smoke.
Nazareth-opening a 'new chapter'
Hiplife artiste turned evangelist, Lord Kenya, will also be present to share in the “glorious story” of Nazareth.

New Chapter is a 12-track album made up of songs such as Zachariah, Conquer Dem, Back to the Sender, Let’s Pray, Destiny Killer, Heaven or Hell, I receive it and Lord You Reign. The rest are Dream Big, Anwanwador, I refuse it and Spiritual Energy.
On Zachariah (remember me in Hebrew language) which features Yaw Stone of Mentor fame, Nazareth  calls on God not to forsake him because of his sins  but to remember him and forgive him.
On I receive it which features Choirmaster of Praye fame, they both sing about the “wayward” messages of pastors without preaching about righteousness but resort to false prophecies.
Christians are urged to withstand temptations and put in practice the word of God on Back To Sender and entreats a habit of prayer on Conquer Dem which features Joe Sei.
Nazareth praises the unconditional love of God for everyone on Anwanwador.
A pastor at the Destiny Empowerment Chapel International, Nazareth recalls how he used to “rock big time” as a hiplife artiste back then as Kwadwo Denkyem where he “rolled” with the likes of Sarkodie, D-cryme, and Yaa Pono, on Adom FM’s Kasahere Level with Dr Duncan.

“Currently, I’m doing a genre of music called ‘gospop’, a fusion of pop music and the gospel music we are used to. I can say I’m the first and only ordained prophet doing this genre,” he stated.

Last Sunday was Mother’s day and many events were organised to honour our mothers for their contribution to the society.

Even though the celebration has ended, many still believe our mothers deserve more for their enormous role and to show appreciation, the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC) Royal Temple in Ash Town, Kumasi, is organising Jazz Night for mothers.
Barima- one of the saxophonists for the night
The 4pm event will feature artistes such as Minister Bibi, Chief Kwame of Kumasi Cultural Centre, Barima and the UP Crew, Agya Yaw, Eddy, Emma, Minister Ike Osei among others.
In its third edition, Jazz Night is aimed at celebrating mothers and putting smiles on the faces of the selfless women who work hard to provide comfort for the family.

In an interview with Showbiz, Baffour Darko, the president of Jayco Incorporated, organisers of the event said, “Jazz is music which brings out good qualities such as swing, improvising and group interaction which is quite soothing”.
According to him, qualities of Jazz Music     which he said, “is one of its kind” could be compared to that of mothers.
“For three years, we have celebrated our mothers on Jazz Night and this year, it is our expectation that everything will go well with the organisation to bring out the pride in motherhood,” he stated.
Jayco Incorporated is a group made up of instrumentalists of the ICGC Royal Temple in Kumasi.  “Our aim is to make mothers feel only the instrumental versions of the songs we have composed. That is why it’s strictly a Jazz affair on the night,” he stated.
Other activities on the night will include a photo shoot and special dance competition for the guests and mothers.

This year’s Jazz Night is sponsored by Berlucci Grafix and supported by Rag Fashions, Palmbook Studios, Henry Bridals, Mabrany Kitchen and New Age Drink.

Kobina Ansah

Updates will be running on Instagram and Twitter at the same time.
The social media event will feature a discussion segment where theatre lovers will talk about how open a relationship/marriage should be and how far one can discuss issues therein with others.
My Wife-In-Law tells the story of a couple who face marital issues like every other married persons. However, the wife, Baaba, discusses hers with everyone, even to the point of her issues being spoken about in sermons in church.
She invites her divorcee mother who is “bitter than bitter leaves” and can “snatch husbands at the speed of light” to help solve these marital problems. Would the mother-in-law actually help? Would the marriage be the same again?
For answers to these questions and more, theatre lovers would have to watch My Wife-In-Law, a play produced by Scribe Productions which is tagged “Marriage is for two… not three!”, and teaches that whatever happens in a home should stay there.
On why the use of the social media to launch the play, Kobina Ansah said, “We want to leverage on the power of social media. We want to effectively use it as a tool to communicate our values and, more especially, expectations of our current piece,” he explained.

Awurama thanks God with 'Aseda'

By Forgive Adjoa Forfoe
Thursday, 21 April 2016 17:52
God saved her husband from death some time ago and to show appreciation, gospel musician, Awurama, is thanking God with her debut single, Aseda.
Scheduled to be launched coming Sunday, April 24, at the Harvest Chapel, East Legon, near the American House, Aseda is one of the songs off Awurama’s eight-track album, Mempaba, which would be released in three months.
Awurama

The launch which will be emceed by Fiifi Folson of Sunny FM will feature artistes such as SP Sarpong, Bismark Takyi, Pastor David among others. It wil be preceded by a donation to the Nungua Orphanage today, Awurama’s birthday.

Produced by JMORG and recorded by JMORG Studios, Aseda which features William Morgan, an international gospel artiste and Awurama’s music director at her church, is a mid-tempo song rendered in Twi.
Awurama who is also an event planner and caterer tells the world that God deserves all the glory and praise because He delivered her from tragedies and misfortunes. She, therefore promises to give her all to glorify Him.
Morgan comes in after the chorus to thank God for delivering him from temptations and for the blessings of being alive; hence, his resolve to praise and thank God always.
Awurama’s silky voice, coupled with Morgan’s bass presence and the choral background of the song makes it an interesting piece in the listener’s ears.
A degree holder in Network Engineering from NIIT, Awurama aka Awurama Yorklyn Bonsu, told Showbiz, ‘‘My husband got very ill and at a point, we lost hope. But he’s alive today, and because of that, my family and I want to thank God for how far He has brought us.”
Awurama thinks that gospel music in Ghana needs to improve in the area of content and instrumentation.
‘‘Our lyrics must be scriptural and spirit filled so that the purpose of gospel music; healing the sick and giving hope to the hopeless, will be fulfilled. I think people should listen to me because I do live recordings and have very good sounds ’’, she said.

Award winning hiplife artiste, Micheal Okyere Darko, popularly known as Obrafour, will be one of the speakers at this year’s Role Model Africa, a mentoring programme, scheduled for the African Regent Hotel tomorrow.
The 3p.m. show will also have the Director of News at Citi FM, Bernard Avle, impart knowledge to the young ones on how to grow their businesses.

Themed, “Projecting New Frontiers in Media and Entertainment to sustain the Africa Business”, the two speakers would be engaged in a discussion to awaken new ideas and inspire the audience to work and contribute significantly to the growth of the country and the continent at large.
Obrafour
An initiative of INVENTS, a leadership and entrepreneurship organisation, the Role Model Africa mentor programme was last held in September last year, with the aim of  raising a generation of “critical thinkers”.
The choice of Obrafour and Bernard Avle as speakers for this edition, according to the organisers, stemmed from their significant success in their fields of endeavour.
Some of the notable personalities who have graced the platform as speakers are World Bank official, Dr Samuel Onwona, and C.E.O. of Rex Oil, Mr Caleb Ayiku. Participants in the mentorship programme have been privileged to be mentored by hiplife artiste, Reggie Rockstone.
Mentoring activist and co-creator of the project, Samuel Agyeman-Prempeh, told the Daily Graphic that the project was designed to provide, “one-on-one mentoring for individuals with specific need and group mentoring to individuals with a common area of study’’.
He also noted that “the African youth can leverage the opportunities of mentoring that the platform offers to scale up their business and provide a global competition for their products and services’’.
That, he said, was one of the reasons Obrafour was selected to lend his experience as one of the successful artistes on the Ghanaian music scene to the younger talents who want “to explore in a similar field”.

What will make you date your ex again?- Relationship corner

By Forgive Adjoa Forfoe
Thursday, 05 May 2016 10:58

Kwaku, Driver
We all enter relationships because we want to be where we would be happy with the people we love. It’s only when you begin to really relate with the person that you begin to realise whether the new person you’re with would give you that love and peace of mind you seek.I for one, if I realise that I’m not happy  in spite of all that my new lady is doing for me, I will go back to my ex.

Also, if I realise that the new lady is not what I expected, I will quickly make a U-turn. If I also get to know that my ex still loves me, trusts me and wants me back, I will go back to her, provided I feel the same.

Efua, Reporter
I will hook up with my former guy again if after the break- up, I find out he’s a good person.
Sometimes, we lose good things before we get to know their value.

If my new guy is also not one who can support my dreams or someone I can’t achieve anything with, I will move back, fast.
Moreover, if I think  that the minds and thoughts of my former guy and mine click, I will quickly stage a comeback.
This is if before the breakup, we had plans of sticking with each other and had a project that bound us together, it will be worth dating my ex again.
I won’t hesitate a second if my ex was someone who was in for the long haul and still wants me back after the breakup.

McHenry, Entrepreneur
If only my former girlfriend is still single  and all that went wrong in my relationship with her before has been taken care of and I am convinced she is the lady I want to spend the rest of my life with, I will date her again.

Basically, it all boils down to forgiveness because I have to forgive myself for whatever I did wrong in our relationship and also forgive her if she did something that led to the breakup. I also believe that first love is always the best, so I will always love to go back to her, depending on the situation at hand.

Miriam, Graphic Designer
I will date my ex again based on one condition, that he becomes faithful to me and promises me that he will remain so. After all, which lady does not want a man who will stick to only her for good? The issue is first finding out what led to the breakup. I believe that whatever made us break-up in the first place can be resolved and forgiven, because as humans, we are bound to falter but to forgive is divine. If I can’t forgive him for the past, then I guess I never loved him in the first place.

The matters of the heart are very delicate and there should  be a good reason enough for leaving one person to be with the other, else you should forgive and come back with love.

Bill, Plumber
The main thing that will make me date my ex again is if she didn’t cheat on me when we were together.
I will also consider going back to her if she is that one peculiar and special woman who could make any man smile though he is in tears.
If I were also the cause of our break-up and I have realised that, and she is ready to let go of the past, then we would come back again.

Nadima, Student Journalist
Ordinarily, I won’t go back to my ex because I believe that once we break up, we should be able to move on.
But, I believe it would depend on the circumstances surrounding our breakup in the first place.
If it was an issue surrounding cheating, I wouldn’t go back because
I believe that once a cheat, always a cheat.
It is, however, dicey though, because if I’m still in love with him, I believe all sound reasoning would go out the window. So, yes, if I’m still in love with him, I will go go back to him.

Yusif, National Service Person
I will want to date my ex again if I don’t get the right person to replace her and there is the need for a comeback.
Moreover, if she makes me understand that what led to our breakup will not happen again, then I will take her back.
I believe that though it’s a difficult thing to do, everybody deserves a second chance because my former partner may have regretted her actions, especially if she was the one who caused the breakup, so I will give her another chance.
However, it’s going to take patience and time on my part to really believe her because my trust for her will not be like before.

Gifty,Student
If I really love my ex and know our breakup was not his fault, but rather mine, I will go back to him. I will apologise and try to get him on my side again.
I will also date him again if I still trust him that he won’t do anything to retaliate the  wrong I did to him
I will also look out for other changes in him like being hardworking or committed to me or anything that will make me feel he also wants me back.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done with your partner?- Relationship corner

I remember my girlfriend and I stole one of her mother’s hens to cook without her knowledge till date.
I had gone to visit my girl that day and had suggested we pound fufu, though both of us were very low on cash. We, however, managed to pull resources together for the cassava and the other ingredients, but there was no meat for the soup.

Her mother had a hen coop full of the birds and we had to wait for her to leave the house before carrying out our ‘deed’
We quickly ‘balanced’ one of the hens for our soup and afterwards, rid ourselves of any evidence of the act by releasing the rest of the hens to go out in search for food.
Later that night, the hens came back to roost, except the one in our soup. My girl and I volunteered as the search party to go in search of the hen, and came back to tell her mum of the missing hen after going to sit somewhere for an hour.
Till date, the woman still looks for her ‘missing’ hen.

My boyfriend and I don’t mind teasing or making a fool of ourselves when we’re together.
I remember that one of the craziest things that we do together is to intentionally cook meals with a lot of gas like beans and eggs in order to smell which of us has the stinkiest farts.
We actually do it like an ongoing competition.
Another thing is that, initially I could not burp in his presence but rather fart whenever I have a stomach ache in order to release gas without him noticing.
He once asked me why I don’t normally fart in his presence till we’re having our ‘competition’. Since then, whoever walks into my house will find us lying on the floor with our asses up and farting the day away, especially if one of us has stomach ache.

My girlfriend and I once spent the night at the seashore after partying hard at a night beach party.
Here in Ghana, we believe that certain spirits dwell in the sea and come out at midnight to hunt for people. There are also beliefs of people doing rituals and other spiritual stuff at the seashore at night.
My girlfriend and I defied all those fears, made love at the beach till we were exhausted and slept there till daybreak. Now, that’s some crazy thing if you ask me.
I also remember us breaking into a hotel storage room and making away with assorted foodstuffs and electrical gadgets.
We had gone for a trip and were taken to a hotel to spend the night before continuing the next day. While there, we chose to ‘tour’ the other hotel rooms instead of sleeping and ended up stealing. We were not caught though.

The craziest thing my partner and I have done before was making love during a heated argument.
She had come to visit me without my knowledge and I was very unhappy with that.
So, when she came to the room and I questioned her, she became very offended and we had a bitter quarrel.
In the midst of the quarrel, however, she starting kissing me and before I realised, we were making love.
I ‘pounded’ her very well that day like never before and afterwards, she confessed that I made her ‘see heaven’

My boyfriend and I did something sometime ago that I think is the craziest.  We decided to go for lunch together, like a sort of date. He ended up coming so late and kept me waiting for so long at the restaurant that we just sat across each other and ate without uttering a word.
We came home in same way with that silence. I guess it was because I wanted to demonstrate how furious I was for his lateness.

The craziest thing I did with my partner was to walk to a policeman and ask him where we could get sex toys to buy.
The poor police man thought we were going crazy or we were out of our minds.
Another crazy thing my boyfriend and I do together periodically is to check which of us has the stinkier breath after waking up in the morning.
Sometimes, we could go the whole day without brushing our teeth.
We also smell our shoes to see whose feet smell worse.

I used to be a womaniser, and I remember that in one of my escapades, I did something very crazy with my partner.
In order to see her and make love to her, I travelled that long distance from Sege to Asutuare, although I had no idea where exactly she lived in Asutuare.
Fortunately for me, while looking everywhere for her in Asutuare, I met a friend and also located my partner, and that friend gave us a place to spend the night.
After enjoying throughout the night and leaving for Sege the next morning, my friend called to tell me that he had been attacked for housing my girl and I.
The truth was, my girl was dating someone else without my knowledge and that person brought people to beat me because I had come to sleep with his girl. Fortunately, I had escaped.

My partner and I have done a lot of sexual stuff together that I call crazy. One of them was giving her Spanish flower and I taking Viagra in order to sustain our libidos for prolonged pleasure.
That day, we had watched pornography together and had practised the various sex positions. We, however, wanted to practise more positions as we kept watching the videos, so we took those sexual enhancement drugs.
I also remember that my girl and I once had sex in an oiled bed. We oiled both the bed and our bodies in order to get a new sexual experience.
